Anisotropic poroviscoelasticity on soft tissue of biological materials
January 1, 2019
The mechanics of biological soft tissues is increasingly recognized as an important role of the exploration on cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis which are the major causes of human mortality in Taiwan. On the other hand, the behavior of the soft biological tissue in brain is admitted as a keypoint for investigation on Alzheumer’s disease and hydrocephalus. In the project, we will attempt to theoretically, computationally, and experimentally study on the soft biological tissue and focus on heart valve tissues, arterial tissues, and brain tissue. To understand the mechanics of these tree kinds of soft biological tissues, we will propose models based on the isotopic and anisotropic theory of elasticity, viscoelasticity, and poroelasticity.

Li-Wei Liu, Ph.D., Yu-Kai Liao, Chih-Ming Chao
This study addresses the mechanical model of chordae tissue. The model of chordae tissue is established and the mechanical behavior is investigated according to the model.
